In exercise of the powers conferred by the Proviso to sub-section (1) of section 2 of the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961(Central Act 53 of 1961), with the approval of the Central Government and after having given previous notice of the intention to do so as required by the said Proviso, as per Notification No.LBRD-E3/64/2018-LBRD dated 27th November, 2019 published in the Kerala Gazette Extraordinary No.2919 dated 28th November, 2019, the Government of Kerala, hereby declare that all the provisions of the said Act shall apply to the private educational institutions including unaided schools inclusive of teachers in the State of Kerala.

Explanatory Note 

(This does not form part of the notification, but is intended to indicate its general purport)

The Government of Kerala have decided to extend all the provisions of the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961 (Central Act 53 of 1961) to the private educational institutions including unaided schools inclusive of teachers in the State of Kerala. The notification is intended to achieve the above object.
