Notification under the Payment of Bonus Act, 1965 (Central Act 21 of 1965) Application of the Payment of Bonus Act to the establishments under the Building and other Construction workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, (Central Act 27 of 1996).

No.II(2)/LE/77/2020.—WHEREAS, the Government of Tamil Nadu are of the opinion that the Payment of Bonus Act, 1965 (Central Act 21 of 1965) shall be made applicable to the establishments within the meaning of clause (j) of sub-section (1) of Section 2 of the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996 (Central Act 27 of 1996) in which less than twenty workers and not less than ten workers are employed or were employed on any day during the accounting year 2019;

NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to sub-section (3) of Section 1 of the Payment of Bonus Act, 1965 (Central Act 21 of 1965), notice of their intention to apply the provisions of the said Act to the establishments aforesaid from the accounting year commencing on any day in the year 2019 and in respect of every subsequent accounting years, is hereby given as required therein.

Any objection or suggestion which may be received from any person with regard to the proposed application of the provisions of the said Act to the establishments aforesaid on or before the expiry of two months from the date of publication of the notification in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette will be considered by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Objection or suggestion, if any, should be addressed in duplicate to the Secretary to Government, Labour and Employment Department, Chennai – 600 009, through the Director of Industrial Safety and Health, 47/1 – Thiru.Vi.Ka.
