Not able to Transfer or Withdraw PF Money

Not able to Transfer or Withdraw PF Money

Was reading Times Now news paper "Planning to change your job? You may not be able to transfer or withdraw your EPF money unless you do this"

Where a person left a job without giving notice period thus his previous employer didn't process exits formality from EPFO portal. Due to which this EPFO member wasn't able to transfer or withdraw his PF funds, also could not access his EPF passbook on the member's portal as the mobile number liked to the EPF account was his official mobile number provided by his previous company which he had to surrender while leaving his job. It may be noted that to view your passbook on the member's portal you need to enter the OTP send to the registered mobile number.
EPFO had asked approach his previous employer to update his date of exit in the details of his previous EPF account. When the person asked his previous employer to update his exit details in EPFO's record, they asked him to pay one month's salary in lieu of his one month's notice period, which was a condition in his appointment letter. So in order to get back his EPF money that person had to pay one month's salary to his previous employer. Upon receiving the amount, the employer updated his personal details in the EPFO record and allowed transfer of EPF account to his new employer.

So in order to avoid such trouble in future, it is advised to give proper resignation and get it accepted before joining a new job. Also, don't forget to collect the relieving letter before joining the new company. For EPF account KYC purpose always give your personal email id and personal mobile number so that you don't face any problem even after changing your job.

TO BE CONTINUE... for solution
