EPFO to Increase Ceiling Wages from 15000 to 25000

The government is actively considering increasing the salary ceiling for contributions to the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 per month. This change aims to expand social security coverage and align the threshold with current wage levels. Similarly, the wage limit for the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is also expected to increase from ₹21,000 to ₹25,000.

In addition to the salary ceiling hike, the government recently increased the maximum limit for EPF withdrawals to ₹1 lakh, doubling the previous limit of ₹50,000. This move was made to provide more flexibility for workers to access their savings during personal financial needs, such as for medical emergencies or large expenses like weddings
