FSSAI - Rapid Analytical Food Testing Kit - Revised Guidelines Approved

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on September 18, 2019, has issued a Notice to revise the guidelines for approval of 19 Rapid Analytical Food Testing (RAFT) Kit & dives Equipment, Method for the purpose of testing of food.

This move will enable food safety officers as well as laboratories to get quicker and validated results for tests conducted on various categories of food products such as milk and edible oils, among others.

"We have created guidelines for approval of rapid testing kits, equipment or methods to strengthen the food testing ecosystem in the country. The first set of 19 such kits and methods has been given provisional approval.”

The applicants are requested to follow the below mentioned guidelines while submission of the application:

1) Duly filled complete and signed application will only be accepted by FSSAI. Incomplete or unsigned applications will be rejected and no fee shall be refunded.

2) Applicants should submit separate application for each kit, equipment, method and each application should be accompanied by separate application processing fee. This shall be applicable to the applications which have already been scrutinized.

3) Application should be submitted with proper justification for each of the product separately along with all the necessary documents.

4) No application for general parameters like pH, density or routine laboratory equipments and accessories etc. will be accepted.

5) Applicant to ensure that their kit, equipment, method should be able to test the parameters mentioned in Food safety and Standards Regulations (FSSR).

The duly filled application form shall be sent through email id. at dinesh.k@fssai.gov.in and sp-sampling@fssai.gov.in.
